Services

The Half-Way Home

Designed as a home away from home, it is the first facility of its kind in India. It is a place, which provides care and compassion, hastening growth and development hopefully beyond recovery attained through psychiatric treatment. It is a space for a recovering person with mental disorder before he / she is ready to be welcomed into his / her own home. Half-Way Home fosters self-help, self-direction and self-management. The focus here is on learning social skills, managing stress and feelings. Treatment in the Half-Way Home includes principles of behaviour modification, crisis intervention and occupational therapy. The Home accommodates 21 residents and is open to both men and women. The term of stay usually varies between 9 and 12 months. A stay less than 3 months is not deemed useful.

Navajeevan Hostel

As they approach the end of their stay in the Half-Way Home, residents are encouraged to take up work or training outside the home. If, for some reason, they are still not in a position to return to their own home they have the option of joining the Navajeevan Hostel. This provides a therapeutic community based rehabilitation for individuals who need extended support to renew their work or learning skills

The hostel can accommodate 12 residents at a time. Minimum supervision is extended so as to provide the experience of more independent living. The focus is on building interdependent and independent functioning, through mental support, group interactions and counseling.

Domiciliary Care Services

The home care service facilitates independence, improves family dynamics and living skills in the home environment. We also at times attempt to help families with the problem of a patient not cooperating to seek professional help.

We occasionally try to facilitate the mental health consultation of an unco-operative patient to help the family.
